This summer program is a joint effort of CNRS (France) and Ilia State University (Georgia) and has the following goals:
- introduce Georgian students to formal methods of language description and documentation
- give students—Georgian or otherwise, hands-on onsite training in linguistic fieldwork on an understudied language
- foster linguistic work on (Tsova-) Tush
- foster enduring collaborations with Georgian scholars
To this end, we have designed a program of classes which will familiarize students with (Tsova-) Tush grammar and provide brief introduction to all major subfield of linguistics in the morning and leave enough time in the afternoons to work with speakers of (Tsova-) Tush under the supervision of more senior scholars.
